We love weddings so dang much, but there’s just something about elopements that we just can’t get enough of ever! If you’re on the fence about eloping instead of throwing a huge wedding bash, here’s four of our favorite reasons to elope.
1. Time
If there’s one thing that everyone knows about big weddings it’s that they can be extremely time consuming from start to finish. In the initial planning process and throughout the big day itself, weddings can take up a huge amount of your time. For couples wanting a day that doesn’t take up too much of their personal time, an elopement can be a quicker option that still allows for a ton of day-of fun.
2. Money
Another huge drawback for many couples when it comes to big weddings is money. Every single aspect of throwing a huge celebration can add up to a bill that may quickly go above a set budget. However, having a tiny day with just the two of you can cut out so many costs and allow you to spend money on the details that are most important to you and your lover.
3. Location
Large weddings can also limit where a couple can hold their nuptials, but the flexibility of eloping allows for you to say “I do” almost anywhere. From national parks to foreign countries to your favorite local hotspot, elopements open the door to all of the possibilities.
4. Intimate/Meaningful Moments
While big weddings are always filled to the brim with special moments, there’s something to be said about the day with just the two of you. Without the stress of managing a ton of people and worrying about all of the pieces falling into place, you and your hunny can make the most of your time together and soak up all of those first moments as newlyweds.

Wedding Inspo - Three Ways to Tackle Wedding Planning Stress
A guest editorial blog contributed by Jessica Miller.
Planning a wedding is undoubtedly exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful. With multiple vendors to liaise with, a bridal party to organize and a strict budget to contend with, engaged couples have a lot on their minds and have to juggle it alongside their usual work and personal life pressures. In fact, as many as 72% of couples find the wedding planning process “very” or “extremely” stressful. Is it possible to plan your dream wedding without enduring an overload of worry? Here are three helpful tips to keep wedding planning stress at bay.
1. Prioritize the essentials
When planning a wedding, we tend to get caught up in unimportant elements, such as flower arrangements, favors, invites, guestbooks and color schemes because we believe these details will help to make our day unique and memorable. While the little elements do play a role in bringing the event together, it’s important to recognize when they’re causing more stress or expense than they are truly worth. It’s important to prioritize the most essential elements of the wedding in the early planning stages. For most couples, the venue, food and drink, and accommodation take absolute priority, with the photographer, entertainment and clothing coming soon after. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed by picking out the perfect bridal bouquet, remind yourself of your priorities and focus on choosing a practical, affordable option simply to tick the task off your list.
2. Schedule Time Off from Planning
Planning a wedding can often feel like a full-time job given how many hours couples put into the process. Just like any job, it’s important to take breaks to refresh your mind and prevent burnout. It’s also important for couples to spend quality time together that doesn’t involve poring over budgets and spreadsheets. Set aside regular downtime where you agree not to have any wedding planning talk. This could be daily, weekly or monthly, but make sure you plan fun or relaxing activities to take your minds off the stress and reconnect with each other.
3. Hire a Wedding Planner
A brilliant way to alleviate wedding planning stress is to hand over the bulk of the work to a dedicated wedding planner. Simply describe your dream wedding to them and let them bring it to life. You can expect to have full reign of final decisions while letting go of the time-consuming process of researching, booking and liaising with venues and vendors. Plus, you have a knowledgeable expert on hand to give you valuable advice on how to create a day to remember. The average cost of a wedding planner is $1,500, with most couples spending between $1,000 and $2,500. If you have a busy lifestyle and are wondering how you’ll find the time to plan your wedding, or you’re simply not enthused about the prospect of all that organization, a wedding planner is a fantastic investment.
Focus on the Excitement for your Big Day
Planning any big event can lead to stress, but keep in mind that this is your wedding day and the buildup to it should be a happy, exciting time. Whenever you find stress taking hold, remind yourself of the bigger picture and refocus on what matters most – the love between you and your soon-to-be spouse.

Madi + Javan, a Magical French Quarter Wedding in New Orleans
As our 2023 wedding season begins to take off, we can’t help but grow more and mor excited for a return to one of our favorite places on earth, New Orleans. Thsi dream city stole our hearts from the first moment we laid eyes on it, so to celebrate we decided there’s no better way than to feature one of our favorite days from the heart of The French Quarter.
While visiting the famed Big Easy, we got to experience so much of the colorful, vivacious life that lives all the way down in the South, but perhaps one of our most treasured moments was capturing the most mystical styled elopement as the iconic Seraphim House. Curated and styled by none other than Traveling Weddings with Taylor, this moody November afternoon featured luxe wedding style, divine florals, and (of course) two of the most stunning lovers around. We adored soaking in every moment of this most enchanting fall day.
We can’t hardly wait until we’re back in Nola, but until then we’ll be revisiting our last trip over and over again.

Nicky + Sam, a Whimsical Santa Fe Elopement
Georgia lovers Sam and Nicky journeyed down to the heart of the Southwest to make their love official on one of the snowiest, yet most enchanting late spring days of all. To soak up their love, these hunnies adventured around Santa Fe and got to discover just how magical our little home state can be.
Even though Nicky and Sam are beyond perfect for one another, their love story took several twists before arriving at its incredibly sweet ending. These angels first met during grad school 15 years ago and were madly in love with each other. However, the universe had other plans for these cuties and they parted ways to pursue their own careers. Around 12 years later, Sam was still on Nicky’s mind and after a quick dive into Google, Nicky discovered that Sam lived in the town right next to her (a true sign from the heavens as neither of these babes are originally from Georgia) leading her to make the first move. During their first date after a decade of not seeing each, Nicky and Sam realized that it felt like no time had passed at all and they finally knew that they really were meant for each other (truly a cinematic moment for these babes).
Initially, Sam and Nicky planned on just visiting Santa Fe for a mini vacation, but after seeing how dreamy Inn of the Five Graces can be in photos, they decided to have us capture their love before they sealed the deal. The unexpected snowfall followed by blue skies was truly a treat for these Southern cuties and our afternoon with them was nothing short of an early spring daydream. Seeing the way these two understand and love each other reminded us of how amazing it is to find that once in lifetime kind of love.
Cheers to falling in love over and over Nicky + Sam, we’re forever your biggest fans!

Wedding inspo - 4 Photos You Need for Your Wedding
2022 was a big year for tying the knot. Following cancellations and postponements, there was a wedding boom, with 2.6 million weddings planned last year. That’s more nuptials than in any other year since 1984. People went all out when it came to the wedding of their dreams, whether it be intimate backyard ceremonies or grand cathedral celebrations. It’s easy to be caught in this excitement. If you’re getting married this year, you are probably putting just as much thought into your big day. As such, you need to think about how you want to capture memories from your wedding. With such special moments happening only once in your life, you want to have photographs that capture the atmosphere and love running high on that day. So if you’re looking for fun photo ideas you can look back on fondly, here are some you might like.
Action shots
Both the big moments, like the kiss or the vows, and the candid instances of laughter and tears are great for action shots. With weddings being such fast-paced and eventful celebrations, your photographer must be equipped with the right tools for different situations. Fortunately, there is a lot that can be achieved with a good mirrorless camera. These cameras are compact and silent, making them ideal for quick, intimate action shots. The latest models from Sony (Alpha a7R V), Canon (EOS R6 Mark II), and Fujifilm (X-T5) have incredible specs with in-body stabilization and are easy to carry around. They can also function well in various lighting and are easy to carry around. They can also function well in various lighting conditions and lets your photographer see the images before pressing the shutter via an optical viewfinder. This allows them to capture all the blink-and-you-miss-it action shots at your wedding. To get those photos for yourself, ask your photographer if it would be possible to use a mirrorless camera on the big day.
Dynamic close-up shots
One great way to capture relationships among your friends and family is with candid close-up group shots. Joke around, chat, laugh, and take photos from a close range. This can make for dynamic and heartwarming memories. Working with a photographer who uses a DSLR can help you achieve these looks because of the wider range of lenses they switch between. 70-200mm lenses, ranging from short and medium to telephoto focal lengths, provide a compressed perspective that highlights the subject. This makes them perfect for capturing emotion and detail — so if you prefer having candid photos in your wedding album, be sure to ask your photographer if they use a DSLR.
Wide shots
Alternatively, you can go for a wide shot that tells a broader story about your wedding. A photographer using a 12-24mm ultra-wide angle lens can capture your big day at a macro scale, providing a comprehensive look into how all the small details you planned tied in together. Wide shots taken from a perspective overhead or from the back of the aisle can elegantly capture everything that’s happening. Whether it be the ceremony or the reception, experimenting with different vantage points can be a fun way to capture a tableau of your wedding, so be sure to look up photographers with great wide shots in their portfolios.
Disposable film photos
Although digital cameras are handy, having photos taken on film can be great too. Film captures the once-in-a-lifetime spirit of weddings, giving off a classic and precious vibe. You can equip guests with disposable film cameras from brands like Fujifilm and Kodak and give them free rein to document your wedding. Not only does this allow them to be more involved during the day itself, but it also allows you to see your wedding through the eyes of someone special to you. It can even be a fun way to document the goings-on when you are busy elsewhere. Weddings can be a flurry of events, so you can easily get lost in everything you have to do. When you take fun shots like these, you can look back fondly on your nuptials and recognize how special those moments were.
