Styled Sunday - an Eldorado Hotel Wedding with Rocky Mountain Bride

Last year, we embarked on an incredible journey with Rocky Mountain Bride through the eclectic, enchanting hallways of Eldorado Hotel and Spa. From start to finish, Eldorado Hotel captivates at every turn with the perfect blend of traditional Santa Fe style and modern elegance.

We started this amazing day in the airy bridal suite adjacent to Eldorado’s chapel. Broad skylights and expansive space make this prep area an absolute dream for brides and photographers alike. Next we were enchanted by Eldorado’s simple, yet incredibly enchanting chapel, La Capilla de Oro. Inspired by Spanish colonial art, the gold gilded alter of La Capilla de Oro is perfect for any wedding and stands out beautifully against the pure white walls of this little ceremony space. Paired with vintage Elipale chairs and stellar greenery, this alter was fit for royalty!

Our dreamy bride and groom also roamed through the colorful rooms and hallways of Casa España where they were treated to cocktails and appetizers at an incredibly vibrant bar. And finally, we capped off this perfect day with a reception on Eldorado’s rooftop. Overlooking the iconic Santa Fe Plaza and with an incredible view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Eldorado’s sky-high patio is the perfect place to finish off an amazing wedding.

From Magnolia Event Company’s brilliant design plan to our bride’s delicate Lea-Ann Belter gown to Rocky Mountain Bride pulling everything together, this sublime day made us fall in love with Eldorado Hotel all over again.

This dream of a day was also published by Rocky Mountain Bride in 2017

Chris + Emma, a Hacienda Doña Andrea Wedding

In their sweet little modern love story, Chris and Emma met on a dating app while both were living in upstate New York. Even though Emma was supposed to go on a different date, one of her best friends had gone to high school with Chris and convinced her to meet up with him instead. They spent their first date in a state park and the rest is history!

Chris proposed to Emma in their home with a custom ring from Etsy that Emma had been looking at for awhile. Both being pretty reserved people, Emma described the proposal as “simple, sweet….very us”. And we adored every second of their sweet, intimate, incredible day!

Chris and Emma threw the best little celebration at Hacienda Doña Andrea in Santa Fe with lots of personal touches and DIY details. From Emma’s whimsical bridal style complete with white boots and a fur jacket to their amazingly bright floral arch by our gals at Viva Flora to ringing a historic bell moments after becoming husband and wife, these two set the bar for small weddings soooo high! These babes definitely have us convinced that real, amazing love is out there in the modern age and we’re forever reliving this day!

Ryan + Cristina, a Prairie Star Wedding

Ryan and Cristina, the most genuine/laid-back lovers on the planet, had the sweetest fall wedding this past October right outside of Albuquerque, NM.

They met in high school (their first moments together involved Ryan copying off of Cristina in Spanish class 😂), but sparks didn’t fly until senior year when Ryan asked Cristina to the homecoming dance.  Even though Cristina completely curved Ryan (by rejecting a kiss), he never gave up on chasing her and, after realizing what a total catch this Ryan was, the rest was history! Years later, Ryan proposed to Cristina in their home only a few days after Ryan spent countless hours picking out the perfect ring.

Ryan and Cristina’s wedding at Prairie Star was full of gorgeous views of the majestic Sandia mountains, amazingly personal details (Ryan’s aunt put together all of the stunning florals for this day!), and the best entertainment around from our friends at Cutmaster Music.  Cristina made the most beautiful bride with her simple, down to earth style and kind aura. These two had everyone (including all of us) absolutely in tears when they read their own vows and shared personal stories of each other. We loved their totally down-to-party, yet sweet bridal party and had so much fun capturing each of them partying it up the entire night. This wedding was extra special as we got the most amazing and ultra gorgeous, golden-hour romantic shots.

Ryan and Cristina, we’re beyond grateful for you two and this day! Cheers to married life cuties!

Josh + Delaney, a Paa-Ko Ridge Wedding

Long before they had the dreamiest mountain top wedding at Paa-ko Ridge Gold Club, Josh and Delaney met through Greek life events in the fall of 2014 at New Mexico State University. These babes instantly clicked, Delaney admired Josh for his quick wit and incredibly caring heart while Josh was immediately smitten with Delaney’s bubbly personality and her genuine beauty. While still in college Josh lavilered Delaney (a Greek life tradition wherein a fraternity brother presents his significant other with a necklace of his frat letters as a symbol of commitment and love. Major swoon right?!) and knew that she was his forever.

In fall of 2017 Josh decided to make it last name official and proposed to Delaney during holiday photos in the Albuquerque foothills. Knowing how important Delaney’s sorority sisters are to her, Josh made sure that he popped the question right before her final college semester so that she could celebrate her engagement with her closest friends.

We ventured up to Par-ko Ridge Golf Club this October to capture these lovers with one of the most genuine, heartfelt days of the year. From opting for pre-ceremony letter reading near each other instead of a first look to having one of their close friends officiate the ceremony to partying all night, Josh and Delaney were so much fun to hang with for one magical day! We also low-key loved when Delaney and her dad, Sam, shared a quick little pre ceremony drink. Cheers Josh and Delaney, we hope marriage is a blast.

P.S. lets throw a giant party in the mountains again soon okay?

Tyler + Cassie, a La Posada Wedding

This October, we went back to one of our all time favorite venues, La Posada de Santa Fe, for an unforgettable Sunday wedding with Texas lovers Tyler and Cassie. It may have been an unusually chilly and rainy day, but these babes brought the heat on their special day.

Tyler and Cassie’s darling little love story began when Cassie’s sister, Lexi, set them up on a group date (just knowing that they would be perfect for each other)! In early 2018, Tyler proposed in the town square of Mesilla, NM on a random Monday so that Cassie would be completely surprised. Afterwards, their families celebrated with them at La Posta (aka Cassie’s fave restaurant).

For choosing a wedding location, Cassie and Tyler settled on the ever enchanting Santa Fe since Cassie had been coming on weekend getaways to the capital city since she was a little girl. And La Posada turned out to have the perfect aesthetic for their glam, yet cozy wedding.

Flash forward to mid-October when these lovers said “I do” surrounded by their friends and families. Besides an incredible ceremony, we can’t get over the details from this day. Tyler and Cassie incorporated touches of the Southwest into their day including an epic succulent cake (by the queens at Maggie’s Wedding Cakes) to hand painted tiles (that the Just Lovely Weddings team created) to dreamy star lanterns (that seriously reminded us of New Mexico’s gorgeous star filled nights). And even though it was a little bit cold outside, these babes were totally up for romantics both outside in La Posada’s amazing courtyards and inside the infamous Staab house.

Congrats Tyler and Cassie, you raised the bar for amazing little Sunday weddings. We adore you both so much!

Blake + Jennie, a Garden of the Gods Wedding

Blake and Jennie’s wedding may have been an epic day in Colorado Springs, CO, but their little love story started far far away in Darwin, Australia. Both of them work as Marines and were stationed in the Land Down Under for a major exercise. After five months of working together, Blake asked Jennie out on an official date. and from that point on they knew their connection was something special. Even though their stations kept them in a long distance relationship, Blake in Japan and Jennie in South Carolina, they never gave up on their relationship! During the Christmas and New Years holiday season, Blake flew across the world to spend a weekend with Jennie where he ended proposing before returning to Japan for work a few days later.

Besides having one of the most swoon worthy love stories around, these babes know how to throw a party! With help from the talented team at For the Love Events, Blake and Jennie pulled off a crazy-beautiful, incredibly authentic wedding in our sister state Colorado. They started off their day with a ceremony at the stunning Grace and St. Stephan’s Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs and then adventured into the mountains of Garden of Gods Park with our girl Ashley for some stunningly breathtaking romantics. As usual, there were sooo many details that we’re still daydreaming about, from the bridesmaids boxer inspired robes to Jennie’s sleek wedding gown hidden under an incredible Jenny Packham overskirt to Blake’s custom suit from Japan to all of the rustic reception details. We seriously wish that we could spend every day with these sweethearts! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Deignan, we love you and your epic love story beyond words!!

La Posada de Santa Fe, a Venue Feature

If there’s one thing to know about us, it’s that we adore all of the amazing, historically significant wedding venues that help make wonderful backdrops for all the love stories we get to capture! The last few wedding seasons we’ve spent a ton of time in our favorite little city to the north, Santa Fe and it’s chalked full of incredible spots to say “I do”. We wanted to give a little extra love to one of our all time fave spots, La Posada de Santa Fe, a gorgeous site located just off of the famous Santa Fe Plaza.

Besides being worldly acclaimed for its current hotel and resort, La Posada also holds an incredibly rich history dating all the way back to the 1800s. Originally built as a family house by Abraham Staab in 1882 for his wife, Julia, and six children, La Posada served as a hub for the highest of entertainment in Santa Fe. According to local legend, Mrs. Staab adored her home so much that she never left it (in honor of this muse, Julia’s Social Club and Julia - a Spirited Restaurant and Bar at La Posada are famously named after her). Many modern guests and visitors have even claimed to meet the spirit of Julia while visiting and she has been the topic of many ghost tours and TV specials on local hauntings.

La Posada received a facelift in 1930 after R.H. Eulalia Nason added a series of adobe style casitas to the property. During this time period, it served as a summer arts school and La Posada received its current name which is Spanish for ‘inn’ or ‘resting place’. Some sixty years later in 1990, La Posada was converted into the luxury resort that visitors and locals alike both love.

Today, La Posada is a favorite among local and destination brides, with staff and accommodations and go above and beyond to make newlyweds more than satisfied with their celebrations (Shout out to Amanda Gesten and her stellar squad). Need an indoor and outdoor wedding? La Posada’s lawn and ballroom are perfect. Want the perfect New Mexican flair for your wedding? La Posada’s ever famous Conchita the tequila donkey is more than happy to make a guest appearance at your reception. La Posada provides world class catering and hospitality for every wedding, no matter how big or small.

We can’t wait for even more prettiness at this incredible Santa Fe spot, cheers to La Posada for over 100 years of keeping our capital city as enchanting as ever!!!

Randy + Elizabeth, a Santa Fe Opera Wedding

Randy and Elizabeth’s love story may have began in San Francisco (where they currently live with their pup Ryno), but these two traveled all the way to sweet Santa Fe, NM for a simple, yet elegant wedding at the ever iconic Santa Fe Opera.

These two met just over four years ago where they bonded over their mutual love for tacos and coffee and after a few years together, Randy proposed on Thanksgiving Day.

Randy and Elizabeth took destination wedding to a whole new level with the most incredible prep and wedding venues. Elizabeth got ready at the quaint and incredible, Hacienda Rose just off downtown Santa Fe (we’re still swooning over this place’s wonderful New Mexican details and endless adobe architecture). We loved Elizabeth’s effortless yet understated glam wedding day style, from her sleek Monique Lhuillier gown accented with a jeweled BHLDN belt to her glitter encrusted Jimmy Choo pumps, this bride knows how to pull off one of our favorite subtle glamorous looks of the year! Elizabeth also included her grandmother’s turquoise broach (that she had purchased in Santa Fe many years ago) on her bouquet as her something blue. We were so excited to capture their first look at the opera and, of course, explore the wildly enchanting grounds for plenty of stunning romantics.

Besides getting to party at the world famous Santa Fe Opera, Randy and Elizabeth’s guests were also treated to a little Jessie Baca and Viva Flora magic including pashmina wraps to keep out the early October chill, the dreamiest guest seating signage, and all the dusty denim/blush/rose gold table accents for days!

We’ll probably never be over this day or these two babes! Congrats Randy + Elizabeth, you two were an absolute dream.

Brian + Ashley, an Eldorado Hotel Wedding

To finish off our crazy, wonderful September full of lovely weddings, we captured Brian and Ashley’s gorgeous, elegant wedding at Eldorado Hotel and Spa right off of the historic Santa Fe Plaza.

Brian and Ashley met in 2012 through mutual friends, however, sparks didn’t fly until they reunited in 2015 for their first official first date. When Ashley began to have severe health problems that would eventually lead to a major surgery and her missing out on the holidays with her family, Brian stayed by her side throughout it all. One year later, Brian wanted Ashley to have a huge reason to celebrate the holidays and not think about the stressful events of the previous year, so he proposed to her on Thanksgiving day in front of both of their families.

Fast forward to 2018 and these lovers started off their celebration with a sweet ceremony in Eldorado’s La Capilla de Oro, a modern, yet insanely ethereal chapel and even had Ashley’s mom sing and play guitar for it. Ashley’s dreamy ballgown, Brian’s reaction to her walking down the aisle, and, of course, their sweet pups Bear and Bailey had us feeling all of the true love, low-key fairytale feels. After a few dreamy golden hour romantics and a cocktail hour complete with a mariachi band, Brian and Ashley partied with all of their friends and family on Eldorado’s rooftop and wrapped up the night with a joyous sparkler send off. Congrats to the Pereas, we loved your enchanting fall wedding!

David + Lauren, a fall wedding at La Fonda in Santa fe

This September we kicked off the first official day of fall with David and Lauren’s incredibly gorgeous (and honestly perfect) wedding at La Fonda on the Plaza. From wine colored bridesmaid dresses to dark floral arrangements to the loveliest long-sleeve, lace Pronovias gown, this day was a dream and a half!

These Dallas babes met while playing co-ed kickball (Lauren wanted a drink and David just happened to be chilling right by the cooler) and have had the coolest adventures ever since. From countless trips to Disney (vacations that inspired their song choices for Lauren’s bridal entrance and the couple’s grand entrance) to getting engaged in their fave Texas wine county (and eating bomb German food after) where they had their first anniversary years ago.

Being the ultimate husband goals that he is, David helped out with a ton of the wedding planning (with zero complaints) and suggested the delicate tambourines for their post ceremony parade and their chili favors! Together, David and Lauren decided on La Fonda due to its incredible history and all of its insanely beautiful views (honestly we’ve never caught a bad angle of this dreamy venue).

We’re soooo beyond thankful for gracious, wonderful, and downright fun couples like these lovers! Cheers babes, we’ll never forget your incredible day!!!!

Real Weddings - First Look Advice

Even though its a newer wedding trend, we definitely have a soft spot for bride and groom first looks! Not only are first looks incredibly exciting, it also provides the soon to be newly weds with a few moments to soak in how amazing their futures spouses look before walking down the aisle. We talked to one of our recent brides, Taylor, to get the scoop on why she and her new husband Kirk decided to do a first look and her advice for future couples!

Her inspiration for doing a first look:
"Kirk and I had discussed this 2 or 3 times leading up to the wedding and it just made the most sense for us, for a few reasons. 1) Kirk thought he would be too overwhelmed and wouldn't have been able to pay as much attention to the ceremony if he was seeing me for the first time while I was walking down the aisle with my Dad. 2) We had 100 people that we weren't able to be included in our ceremony due to the size of the Loretto Chapel, they were hanging out and waiting for us up at a cocktail hour at La Fonda (our reception venue), so doing the first look and being able to take photos prior to the ceremony was important to us. We wanted to be able to spend as much time with our guests as possible, because every single one of them was traveling to be with us - it was the least we could do to be as present as possible!"

Her fave part of their first look:
"I had such butterflies when I was walking out of the Bridal Suite at La Fonda to the staircase where I knew Kirk would be. By far the most amazing part of the day was seeing his face the first time he laid eyes on me in my full wedding day get-up. We share everything together so having to keep my dress and veil a secret for so long was a serious challenge, but 100% worth the wait. The look of love and absolute certainty in his eyes calmed me down and we were able to have a few quiet moments just the two of us before meeting up with our rowdy bridal party."

Her advice for future bride and grooms:
"I highly recommend doing a first look - we're usually sticklers for tradition but this is one I'm very glad we broke. Being able to see your fiance for a few minutes (just the two of you) before becoming husband and wife was so special and something I will treasure forever, plus it really does cut down on the amount of time you spend away from your guests for pictures after the ceremony - which they were very appreciative of!"

Dillon + Stephanie, a Hotel Albuquerque Wedding

Once in awhile we get to capture couples that not only have amazing love stories, but also serve up major couple goals. Dillon and Stephanie brought amazing style, details, and the most genuine love around to their modern, simple wedding at Hotel Albuquerque.

These babes went to high school together, but didn’t start dating until about a year after graduation when they met up by chance at a mutual friend’s house party.  Since then Dillon and Stephanie have had the most amazing years of being young and in love together (along with their pups too!)

Dillon set the bar sky high and proposed to Stephanie in New York City last fall. The two traveled with Stephanie’s family to celebrate her aunt’s wedding and on the final day of their trip these lovers finally stopped in Central Park (a spot they had been trying to revisit the entire trip) where Dillon asked Stephanie to be his wifey for lifey after over seven years of being together.

There were so many incredible little details from Dillon and Stephanie’s day that we adored, from Stephanie wearing a diamond necklace made of her grandmother’s wedding ring to having one of their best friends officiate their ceremony to everyone having a killer time on the dance floor! They even opted for a pre-ceremony drink together instead of the usual first look! We were seriously speechless over the breathtaking romantics our girls Ashley and Jen captured of these babes on the balcony of Hotel Chaco, we’re forever smitten with Dillon and Stephanie!  Huge congrats to the Blackerbys, we love you two little lovers so much!!
