Being from the Southwest, deserts are (of course) a major staple in some of the stunning engagement we capture across New Mexico and beyond. From classic high desert landscapes to otherworldly locations, The Land of Enchantment and its sister states are the perfect places to roam around wilds with your lover.
Whether it be at the serene oasis that is Lake Powell or the sky-high painted rocks at Ghost Ranch, the variety of locations across the Southwest is truly breathtaking. We love visiting our favorite little locations, but love it even more when our couples take us on new adventures to stunning desert landscapes.
We know that we’ll always have a huge amount of love for all things desert, so here’s just a few of our favorite engagements out in the wilderness!

Luke + Jenny, a Romantic White Mesa Engagement
We traveled a little bit up north for the most stellar evening with babes Jenny and Luke. These two are planning an incredible vintage, yet romantic wedding in Albuquerque this fall and we are so dang thrilled to be a little part of their love story.
These cuties first met when they were just teenagers through mutual friends (who Jenny and Luke ended up 3rd and 4th wheeling with for date nights), but stayed just friends until 2013. From that year forward Luke and Jenny have been enjoying life together and falling more and more in love with one another. In 2017, these two decided to pack up and move to Spain (!!!!!!!) before continuing on their world travels together. And now nearly a decade after they first met, Jenny and Luke are back in Albuquerque and eagerly stepping into their new chapter as best friends, soulmates, and now partners for life.
We’re so excited to see what new adventures married life will carry these two on. See you hunnies in September!!!

Where to Elope in New Mexico - Adventurous Locations
If last year showed us anything, its that you can elope literally anywhere in beautiful old New Mexico. Our couples traded luxe venues and typical wedding days for stunning desert landscapes and national parks, and lets just say that none of that wedding day magic was lost.
With the pandemic forcing so many couples to either postpone or drastically change their plans, so many of our lovers took their nuptials outside to some of the most epic locations. From White Sands National Park’s ethereal atmosphere to the unreal rock formations of White Mesa to the beautiful, yet tangible history of Pecos National Historical Site, our couples took us on some of our favorite adventures of all time.
Even as slightly bigger weddings start to return to our lives, we’re hopeful that couples will still opt for some of the stellar, natural locations in our gorgeous Southwest home. We’re so beyond ready for even more adventurous love stories all over the place!!!

2020 - Moments with Alicia Lucia Photography
2020 was by far one of the most challenging years our team has ever faced, yet through all the difficult descisons and make-or-break moments, we still found the light on the other side of it all.
After an intense global pandemic forced our weddings and shoots to a screeching halt, we weren’t sure what to do, but somehow we found a new path and gained a better perspective on our lives, our business, and our community. We found new ways to capture weddings/elopements and support our couples as they navigated this insane year. And we also found even more opportunities to create beauty through styled shoots and portrait sessions. If one thing is sure, 2020 reminded us of why we set out to do what we do in the first place: love. Watching love win over and over and over again this year, despite all of the odds was something to behold. And we once again fell in love with with what we have the immense privilege of doing, capturing those undeniably beautiful moments of pure joy.
The biggest thank you from the bottom of our hearts goes out to every single couple, family, and individual who continually put their trust in us during a year where everything was uncertain, yet everything mattered even more. And to all of our vendor friends, thank you for riding this one out with us, we’ve never had so much faith in the wedding community as we do right here and now.
No year will ever be quite like 2020, and while we’re grateful to see beacons of hope at start of the new year, we’re forever be grateful for the year that gave us all a chance to start anew and to believe in the magic that is love.

Wedding Inspo - Why We Adore Elopements
Here in New Mexico, our team thrives in shooting the many big, bold, beautiful weddings all over the state, but we also live for the moments when we get to be a part of the sweet, quaint, intimate elopements! Just like larger, more traditional weddings, the main focus is always love, devotion and commitment, however, elopements tend to be much simpler and, of course, much much smaller. Here’s a few reasons why we have a soft spot for elopements!
- Intimacy
While we absolutely love getting to spend the day capturing those huge celebrations, there’s something magical about being alone with a couple sharing their first moments of married life with no one else around. We of course get to see lots of the same emotions as a traditional wedding ceremony, but we get to be even more up close and personal with our couples which makes it that much more meaningful for us behind the cameras.
-Cost
Its no surprise that elopements cost much less than average weddings do and today many couples all over the world are opting for elopements for just this reason. You can still get a stunning gown, a pretty bouquet, and a stellar hair/makeup artist without spending too much cash which is a huge bonus of elopements. In financially hard times, elopements are a great way to still look and feel amazing on your wedding day while still supporting a few small businesses along the way.
-Stress
Most of our wedding seasons consist of pretty big wedding days with some jaw dropping details (from floral installations, to killer reception music, to out of this world bridal fashion), but we know that the stress of putting together days like this might not be for everyone. And for that reason, elopements are a great alternative because a simple, intimate day with just you and your sweetheart (and a photog you both love) doesn’t put any pressure on you to having a larger than life floral arch or entertainment all of your guests will love. You get to focus on something a little bit simpler and a lot longer lasting, your love story and your future together.
-Location
Lastly, a really neat factor about elopements is that they can take place pretty much anywhere your heart desires. You can take a more classic route and head to the courthouse or they can be in the middle of a desert. The world is truly your oyster when it comes to eloping and while we have a few favorite locations that we adore for elopements here in New Mexico, we love seeing how they unfold across the globe.

Evan + Jocelyn, a Heavenly New Mexico Engagement
Even though its not quite the new year yet, we’re already head over heels in love with our stunning 2020 couples. Last month we spent a few hours at the absolutely unreal White Mesa with LA lovers Evan and Jocelyn. These babes set the bar soooo freaking high for our latest round of engagement sessions, its not hard to see why we’re obsessed with them!
These lovers met over four years ago while Jocelyn was attending grad school in Las Vegas and Evan was living in Los Angeles. Over one MLK weekend, Jocelyn decided to fly out to Los Angeles to see Van Morrison with some of her friends. While in the City of Angels, Jocelyn met Evan through mutual friends and his first move on her was offering a tequila shot at 4 p.m. These two ended up hitting it off and spent all day and night talking about everything and anything. Jocelyn, thinking that she probably wouldn’t see Evan again, hit him with the old “see you never” and headed back to Vegas. However, two weeks later Evan traveled to Vegas to take Jocelyn on a real first date and after graduation, Jocelyn moved to LA.
Besides being super sweet, down-to-earth babes, the love these two have for each other is beyond this world. For Jocelyn, Evan’s kindness, intelligence, and support makes her world go round. And for Evan, Jocelyn radiates beauty inside and out, she’s the one he can’t wait to explore the world with forever! (Brb, crying over these two).
These hotties are gonna raise the temperature this summer at Los Poblanos with a modern, romantic, bohemian wedding. And with families from both New Mexico and California, we know this day is gonna be killer!
Hey Evan and Jocelyn, is it July yet? We can’t wait to celebrate your love!!!!

Randy + Danielle, a Desert Engagement
Randy and Danielle might not be getting married until next year (June 2020) but we can’t help but gush over these two and their incredible sweet love story.
After meeting through mutual friends, these two hung out for the first time at Austin City Limits and immediately hit it off after a weekend of amazing music. And even though they lived in different cities (Randy in Houston and Danielle in Austin) these two made it work and eventually decided to officially call Austin home.
Between being the coolest couple around (they love doing everything and anything outdoors) and having two of the cutest fur babies on the planet (Autumn and Jude), they’re also major couple goals. Along with having fun together (playing Mario Kart and watching Game of Thrones), these two speak each other’s love languages perfectly — Danielle loves how supportive and caring Randy is (he washes her car every Saturday and always remembers to snag macaroons from her fave bakery— insert all the heart eyes) and Randy loves how Danielle is so loving in the way that she always puts others first.
We can’t wait for their Santa Fe celebration at La Fonda on the Plaza next summer, bring on the party babes!
