Wedding Inspo - Winter Weddings + Elopements

The temperature might be getting more and more chilly, but we know that winter weddings and elopements always bring the heat. Even though we don’t capture a ton of cold weather celebrations, the ones that we get to be a part of are so incredibly divine.

Winter nuptials are not only insanely beautiful, they’re also deeply serene. From the cozy, romantic little moments to the way this time of year just ushers in those quiet, intimate gatherings, weddings in the coldest part of the year are beyond enchanting.

Keeping our fingers crossed for even more of these magical days in the future, we’re forever in love with celebrations of love in the middle of winter.

Michael + Anna, a Moody Winter Elopement at The Seraphim House New Orleans

This November would took a quick trip down south to New Orleans for a few days of absolute HEAVEN. We were treated to the most divine winter styled elopement at The Seraphim House and dang was it everything we could’ve wish for and more.

On this insanely pretty day in The Big Easy, we were treated to a true feast for the eyes at the beautiful, historic Seraphim House. This tiny gem of a venue was first built in the 1860’s and after being restored from 2012 to 2015, Seraphim House is now more stunning than ever. For this incredible day, our sweet friend Taylor of Traveling Weddings with Taylor put together a styled elopement beyond our wildest dreams. Stunning bride Anna wore the most gorgeous Rita Vinieris gown while her groom Michael complemented her angelic look perfectly with a red, velvet tux from Don Morphy. For the the most divine florals, Louisiana florist Violetta’s created not only the perfect moody bouquet, but also a beyond epic indoor floral arch. To top it off, Papier Handmade came through with a romantic hand-lettering adorned invitation suite.

This dreamy afternoon in Nola sparked our imaginations for all the moody, fairytale inspired nuptials. We’re here for all those stunning fantasy celebrations!!!

Los Poblanos Desert Romance - A Mauve Toned Styled Wedding

Even though we were still in the midst of winter in the Southwest, our dreamy styled elopement in the heart of New Mexico happened to fall on a day full of sunshine and beauty. This mauve-tinted, bohemian-influenced romance was the perfect way to kick off our year and to get inspired for what’s to come!

Joined by real-life lovers Jawara and Jasmyn (who have been together for 4 years!), our gals at Just Lovely Weddings and A Beautiful Theme made some major magic happen at one of our favorite little locations, Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm in Albuquerque’s lush north valley. Darling Details Rentals, the sister company of Just Lovely, brought in some of the most beautiful pieces around, from a lounge area decked out with vintage books and plush seating to a ceremony space with some pretty magnificent geometric backdrops to a sweetheart table with the daintiest glassware and gold accents. The stunning florals, made possible by A Beautiful Theme, were nothing short of the perfect mix of soft blush tones, pampas grass, and wedding boho glam! From a swoon-worthy bridal bouquet to tons of ceremony and reception florals, nothing was short of jaw-dropping.

We were also beyond lucky to have one of our favorite glam babes Betty Rose by Alanna and hair pro Santiago Romero on deck to make our girl Jasmyn simply radiant for this shoot. Soft, subtle makeup paired with her gorgeous, natural curls had this bride looking like an absolute queen! And to top off her look, Jasmyn wore a Jasmine bridal gown (we just know it was meant to be) from our lovely friends at Bridal Elegance by Darlene. Meanwhile our groom Jawara’s style was the perfect mix of classic and modern wedding vibes with a neutral toned jacket paired with the perfect little velvet mauve bowtie!

After a ton of romantics all over Los Poblanos, from that little pink wall to the lavender fields to the bar at El Campo to the iconic driveway to the silos, we wrapped up one of the smoothest, most fun styled shoots we’ve ever done with a couple that just knows how to give us those Jay and Bey vibes. Cheers to more days with wedding pros who have the most creative minds and hearts and to more couples who make our jobs so easy and so damn beautiful!!!!

Winter Florals

It is no surprise that winter has a special place in our hearts and even though we don’t shoot a ton of winter weddings and elopements, we adore them beyond belief. One of our favorite details is, of course, winter florals and all the variety they bring to wedding days. From the dark and moody, to the celebratory pops of color, to the more muted cold-weather tones, to jewled tones, we love all the flower color palettes we’re treated to every winter. Check out some of our most memorable bouquets and arrangements from the past few years and we’re sure you’ll wish every wedding was in the winter!

Elopement + Intimate Wedding Advice

As much as we love the big weddings and the fun energy and big amazing wedding parties they bring, elopements and intimate weddings have an incredibly special place in our hearts. There is something so special about capturing couples as they profess their love and promise their lives to each other with just a few of their closest friends and family. We’re forever living for these organic moments and the couples who ask us to be a part of such incredibly sweet days.

We asked one of our past brides, Mallory, who had a very intimate elopement/wedding, for any advice she may have for couples who are considering a more non-traditional ceremony route.

  • On why they chose to have an intimate ceremony (only surrounded by super close friends/family)
Mallory: “Neither of us are fond of being the center of attention, and it made more sense for us to be with our families for an intimate ceremony. Cost (or lack of) was also a plus to this decision. Since graduating college was still half a year away, I didn’t want to stress anyone out with a big wedding cost. I was only interested in spending money on great photographs (which I definitely received) since these would be the thing we would be looking back on for years to come.”

  • The best part of having a small wedding
Mallory: “No stress!  Being 26, I was one of the last of my friends to be the bride instead of the bridesmaid. I have seen some throw up the day of, and almost all of them cried from all the worrying over every little detail. I wanted zero part of that, haha.”

  • Advice for couples considering an elopement or intimate wedding
Mallory: “Just decide what is most important to you and go for it. It’s a day to celebrate y’all, and if having EVERYONE there is something you need, more power to you! I think it comes down to what most brides have pictured their whole lives as being their ‘perfect wedding’. For me, my perfect wedding was the lace dress and my groom.”

Boot + Mallory, Elopement in New Mexico

We found ourselves beyond lucky to have wrapped up our 2017 season last year with a beautifully intimate elopement in Eagle Nest, New Mexico! Nestled within the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico,  Boot and Mallory's sweet little mountain church, the Moreno Valley Church of Christ, was cozy, rustic and all around perfect for their boho inspired celebration. Boot and Mallory, East Texan Natives decided that they wanted a very small ceremony at the church that Boot's family visits every year with only family and super close friends in attendance. We adored their simple, yet perfectly moody winter florals, and their all around approach to their wedding day, prioritizing family, friends and timeless wedding portraits. We had the best time capturing these crazy-in-love lovers against that beautiful, mountainous backdrop! Congrats to one of the most sincerest, sweetest couples around, we SO loved being a part of your celebration.
