Freeman Family, a Fall Session

It seems like just yesterday we were shooting Derek and Shawna’s incredibly beautiful La Posada de Santa Fe wedding in the height of New Mexico springtime. Over three years later and these cuties were back in front of the camera with their sweet baby girl, Emma.

We headed out in the the dreamy Southwestern desert at the peak of fall for some of the prettiest, warm -toned family portraits ever! Derek and Shawna’s wedding was so dang special to us that getting to be a part of the next little chapter in their lives seriously made our hearts burst with love.

Cheers to the world’s best couples that become the world’s best little families. We love you guys so dang much!!!

Jordan + KC, a Cristo Rey and La Fonda Wedding

Fall weddings in Santa Fe are ALWAYS next level so we were beyond grateful when Jordan and KC asked us to capture their big day in New Mexico’s beautiful capital! A stunning ceremony at the ever historic Cristo Rey Catholic Church right off of the plaza, followed by the best party ever at La Fonda made this day sooo freaking amazing!!

They always say that you find love where you least expect it and Jordan + KC’s story brings that truth to the light. About 5 years ago, KC spotted Jordan at a local gym in Santa Fe and knew that she just had to get this hunk’s attention! She was leaving with a close friend (who happened to be a guy, but just a guy friend KC assures) and not wanting Jordan to mistake her friend for her boyfriend, KC snuck a cute little note with her phone number into Jordan’s gym locker! The rest is history because these lovers have been together ever since (ladies, let KC be your inspo for making the first move in 2020!) .

Fast forward to fall 2018 and these lovers were on a trip in Austin, TX for KC’s 30th birthday when Jordan surprised her with a proposal. He made sure that all of they friends were there for this major surprise!

One year later, Jordan and KC made it last name official with the prettiest, yet incredibly meaningful Santa Fe celebration. Opting out of a first look, these two got ready with their closest friends and then started off the day with an intimate ceremony at Cristo Rey Catholic Church (the same parish that KC was baptized at). We’ll (probably) never get over Jorden’s reaction to KC walking down the aisle or the unique beauty of this special church. We snuck off with these two for lots of dreamy romantics in some of our all-time favorite Santa Fe spots before capturing them twirling away on La Fonda’s terrace during blue hour. And if these babes couldn’t be even more fun, they not only danced to “Diamonds and Twine” by Ryan Hurd for their first dance, but they kicked off the party with a SECOND first dance to “All My Life” by KC n JoJo (pretty clever huh?!).

We can’t get enough of these genuine, kind, downright beautiful human beings! Jordan and KC, thank you for reminding us of why we love this sweet gig, we love capturing love!!! Cheers to many more years of being one of Santa Fe’s hottest couples!!! #KCnJoJoSayIDo

Jason + Natalie, a Stunning Fall Wedding at La Fonda on the Plaza

On a very lovely Santa Fe day, Jason and Natalie said “I do” with the most spectacular, southwestern-boho wedding ever! These lovers came all the way from Chicago to celebrate the start of forever and they pulled out all the stops.

Jason and Natalie met about four years ago and even though Natalie cancelled their first date, Jason was persistent and the two of them finally met. After an 8 hour date walking around Lake Michigan, these babes knew they were meant for one another and now, years later, Jason and Natalie live the sweetest life in Chicago with their darling black lab/collie mix, Bartlet.

This fall, they began the next chapter of their lives together at the ever beautiful La Fonda on the Plaza. With stellar details from Funky Olive Designs, Rust Vintage, and For the Love Events, Jason and Natalie’s day was both stunning and super unique. Natalie made all her glam bridal dreams come true with her gorgeous Ines di Santo gown, complete with hand painted florals and the most epic train we’ve ever laid eyes on. Jason surprised us too with the coolest custom suit around (we’re suckers for anything with skulls on it!). We’re still trying to pick our jaws up off the floor thanks to our gal Zara of Maggie’s Wedding Cakes who created the perfect desert inspired cake (complete with pink watercolor cacti).

Cheers to more insanely beautiful, out-of-this-world days and congrats to Jason + Natalie! Here’s to a lifetime of beauty and love!

Meet the Alicia Lucia Photo Squad

At the end of another amazing wedding season and on the cusp of a brand new year (and decade!), our little team has grown so much! We’ve brought on even more boss babes to make wedding days that much more dreamy, perfect, and (as always) fun. We can’t wait for what adventures lie on the horizon for our squad, bring in the (new) roaring 20s, we’re beyond ready for the next chapter of ALP!

Meet Alicia
Owner + Lead Photographer
Alicia is our fearless leader and the whole reason the ALP squad even exists. Besides being insanely talented and creative, she’s is also one of the most kind-hearted, compassionate gals you’ll ever meet.

Alicia began capturing weddings/couples in the fall of 2012 and since then, her work has been featured in national print and online publications including Rocky Mountain Bride, The Knot, Junebug Weddings, Wedding Wire, Carats and Cake, Martha Stewart Weddings, BRIDES, Green Wedding Shoes, and countless others.

Besides being a boss babe, Alicia lives the ultimate cozy life with her husband, Adam, and their two children. She loves gardening, hitting the gym, snuggling with her cute little family, and exploring the ever gorgeous Southwest.

Meet Ashley
Lead Associate Photographer
As our OG associate photographer, Ashley first started shooting weddings for ALP in 2013. Using her extensive knowledge of the wedding industry and her carefree, California-inspired style, Ashley not only knows how to make our couples look downright stunning, but she adds her own whimsical style to each and every wedding day. Ashley’s work has also been featured in Rocky Mountain Bride, Carats and Cake, and on numerous wedding sites.

Even though she’s a west coast girl at heart, Ashley and her sweet family love calling the Southwest home. Her and her husband have four precious babes and two sweet pups, but that never stops this gal from capturing our destination weddings all over the country!!

Meet Bre
Associate Photographer + Second shooter
Our girl Bre may be new to lead shooting weddings, but with over 8 years of solid photography experience from second shooting weddings and running her own amazing newborn photography business, she’s beyond her years in talent. This gal not only brings beauty to her photography style, she brings her vibrant, spunky, fun-loving energy to every single wedding. We can always count on Bre to not only get “the shot”, but to break the ice with any couple, wedding party, guest, or vendor we meet. She’s been described as a “second maid of honor” due to her confidant wedding day approach.

When Bre’s not capturing lovers with us, she’s running her own businesses, playing soccer, or hanging out with her husband and sweet daughters. We can't wait to see what destination engagements and weddings Bre captures for ALP next #gobrego

Meet Molly
Second Photographer
One of the newer gals to our girl squad, Molly is far from a rookie when it comes to weddings. With her own up and coming photography business under her belt, Molly does it all: weddings, elopements, engagements, maternity, seniors, families, and hospital newborn sessions. We adore how she makes even the simplest portraits look like stunning pieces of art.

When she’s not running her own photog business or hanging with her adorable little family, Molly loves exploring new places and going on adventures in the Southwest and beyond! We’re so thrilled to have this multitalented babe working with us!

Meet Melanie
Second Photographer
Sweet, detail oriented, and down-to-earth, Melanie is one of our go-to babes for all the things wedding days. From capturing groomsmen to those in between bridal moments, Melanie always bring out the best wedding day touches!

Melanie also runs her own business out of A suburb of Albuquerque and specializes in newborns and families. She has been behind the camera since 2011! When she’s not shooting, Melanie loves hanging out with her kiddos and amazing husband!

Meet Cameron
Second Photographer
Even though she’s the newest to the photog game, our babe Cameron is taking the photog game by storm. She first started shooting in the summer of 2018 (!) and hasn’t looked back since. Her calm, intuitive nature makes the most soothing presence on wedding days and her work is beyond our daydreams!

An enneagram type 2 to the fullest, this gal is empathetic and caring with every detail of weddings and her home life too! When she’s not perfecting her craft, Cameron can be found with her adventurous sons & husband, working on her next interior design project, or searching for the perfect grilled cheese (😋).

Meet Jaclyn
Social Media Curator + Blog Manager
Jaclyn’s in her second season with the ALP team and can usually be found behind her laptop creating our next major blog feature, working on the perfect Instagram flow, or adding alllll the photos to our Pinterest (which just hit 1 million monthly viewers!!!!) She also doubles as a wedding day assistant which usually involves carrying bouquets, snapping BTS moments, or making sure that Ashley doens’t leave her step stool behind, or Alicia leave her water bottle at the wedding venue (😝).

Living the ultimate double life, Jaclyn is also a professional ballerina and the (self-proclaimed) world’s best cat mom. When she’s not blogging away, this gal can be found solo traveling, eating pad Thai, or taking cozy naps.

Drew + Lauren, a Southwestern Wedding at La Mesita Ranch Estate

This fall we returned to one of our all time favorite hidden gems, La Mesita Ranch Estate right outside of Nambe Falls, NM. Drew and Lauren, aka one of the most amazing couples on the planet, planned a truly gorgeous, yet somehow carefree, Southwestern soirée on a perfect fall afternoon. Besides the incredible details, it was so apparent that these two are not only head over heels in love, but that Drew and Lauren are beyond perfect for each other.

In a modern twist on an actual fairytale, Drew and Lauren met on a dating app (Bumble) and immediately hit it off over conversations about football (Drew is a die-hard NY Giants fan while Lauren adores the Dallas Cowboys) and Drew’s recent to trip to Lauren’s hometown, Albuquerque. Even though Drew had to leave early (to do laundry!), they agreed to meet up for a second date and the rest is history.

Flash forward three years and these babes are vacationing in France, but little did Lauren know that it would be one of the best trips ever. While touring the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris (and sipping on wine) Drew proposed to Lauren and she (of course!) said yes.

After a year of amazing prep and planning, Drew and Lauren finally said “I do” in the Land of Enchantment. With the coordination by our girl Lauren Maestas of Just Lovely Weddings and stunning Western inspired details by Darling Details Rentals, this day was nothing short of everything we could have imagined (especially those epic pampas grass arrangements!). In addition to having dreamy details, Lauren and Drew included super personal touches as well. Lauren (whose father passed away five years prior) was moved to tears when her mom sewed his wedding ring into her dress pocket. This bride also made sure that her father was part of the reception by including his favorite dessert (Oreos) at the sweets table as well as biscochitos in the welcome bags (which were reminiscent of the ones Lauren and her father made every year at Christmas). A heartfelt ceremony followed by a quick hike up a mountain for romantics and an amazing bridal reception outfit made this day out of this freaking world.

Honestly we can’t really express just how much we love Drew and Lauren, truly two of the kindest, funniest, all-around wonderful couple. Cheers to a million more years of crushing on you two and your incredible love story!!! #romosaysidrew

Laney, a Golden Hour Senior Session

As our wildly busy 2019 wedding season winds down, we were so thrilled to be able to capture a few stunning seniors before the weather gets super chilly!

Laney, aka a model in the making, made it so stinking easy for us to capture all of her beauty in the golden hour light. And to top off this sweet evening, she brought the most STUNNING rose adorned leather jacket and we’re forever dreaming of it!

Early congrats to this sweet soul, we can’t wait to see what you do next in life!!

Ben + Emilee, a Stunning Sandia Event Center Wedding

Long before Ben and Emilee said “I do” on the prettiest fall day, they met when they were just kids. Even though they’re seven years apart, these two soulmates still found each other and finally made it last name official this past year!

Growing up with their families being very close, Ben and Emilee have known each for a very long time (their dads even went to elementary school together!), but they didn’t hit it off until later in life. In between Emiliee’s junior and senior years of college, while her and Ben were living together in the same town, Ben told his future wifey that he wanted to propose. Despite fancy dinners and long, romantic walks (planned by Emilee), nothing happened! Finally, during a casual night in of grubbin’ on Jimmy John’s, right there in their living room Ben popped the question.

For these cuties, not only was a dreamy venue with views of the Sandia mountains important, but they wanted to have an all out party for their loved ones! Sandia Event Center was the obvious choice and they included so many lovely details from bespoke invitations by our pals at Funky Olive, to custom Nike reception shoes for Emliee, to Ben’s super unique suit jacket (that had a print of skiers in it!). Ben and Emilee kept their ceremony short and sweet — while incluing Emilee’s childhood pastor as officiant for the ceremony), snagged some of the prettiest dang romantics during golden hour, and then threw the bash of the century allllll night long! We wish that we could post every single photo from this day, it was nothing short of amazing and a total blast!

Congrats Ben and Emilee, we love you two and your absolutely FAIRYTALE love story!!

Wedding Inspo - First Look Moments

One of the biggest decisions to be made for your wedding is whether or not to do a first look, and if you know one thing about our gang its that we ADORE first looks!

The biggest bonus, besides being able to shake off some of the pre-ceremony jitters, is that with a first look you and your hunny get even more time alone together on your wedding day (something that is surprisingly hard to get on the biggest day of your lives!). In addition to extra time, you get a few special, quiet moments together to take in how gorgeous/handsome your future spouse looks without anyone else around (except for us of course!). Although some might argue that seeing each other before walking down the aisle takes away from emotional reactions, we couldn’t disagree more. In fact, first looks just add to that magic because you get to experience seeing your lover in front of all of your friends and family too!

There’s also the major plus of getting extra photos together during and after a first look! And who doesn’t want even more gorgeous wedding photos without having to stress about squeezing in all of the romantics into the day after the ceremony? And with a first look you can also get wedding party and family photos done which means that everyone gets to enjoy alllll of cocktail hour!

We could seriously list off five million reasons why first looks are amazing, but we’ll let all of our couples in this special post do the talking for us!

Colton + Lindsey, a Hyatt Tamaya Wedding

We’re total suckers for a childhood crush turned full blown romance years down the road, so its no surprise that we are incredibly smitten with Colton and Lindsey’s love story! Their beautiful fall wedding at Hyatt Rengency Tamaya was the cherry on top of an already amazing little tale of love.

These cuties met at church camp 14 years ago and instantly became friends before they started dating in 2013. And being huge lovers of Disney (something that we share too!) it was only natural for Colton to propose at Disney World. After two previous trips to Disney Parks, Colton made it happen on their third trip together! While stopping in the France Pavillion to take a picture, Coton got down on one knee and proposed to Lindsey in front of her family (he had even been in contact with one of the on-site Disney photographers to capture this moment, swoon!).

Flash foward to this fall and these two pulled off the sweetest darn day ever! Everything was not only gorgeous, but all of the personal touches and details Colton and Lindsey put into their day were beyond words. From creating their own glass signs (which were absolute STUNNERS btw) to the precious little Funko cake toppers to performing a dance they learned in their living room, Colton and Lindsey are seriously the definition of amazing, down-the-earth lovers! This day was such a freaking fairytale, we’ll never stop obsessing over every aspect of it!

Cheers to the Woodruffs, we adore you guys forever and ever!

Jason + Natalie, a Southwestern Rehearsal Dinner at The Pink Adobe

It’s not a secret that we became absolutely obsessed with Chicago lovers Jason and Natalie after their lovely White Sands engagement session and we just knew their wedding weekend in Santa Fe was going to be one for the books!

These two kicked off their celebration with a festive rehearsal dinner at the ever-so-quaint Santa Fe gem, The Pink Adobe. Complete with a New Mexico inspired cake by our girl Zara at Maggie’s Wedding Cakes, to custom gift bags designed by Funky Olive Designs (who used this same amazing design for Jason and Natalie’s wedding day details), to a surprise appearance by a tequila donkey, this night was just the tip of the iceberg for a truly incredible wedding weekend

We can’t wait to share Jason and Natalie’s out-of-this-world day here on the blog, but until then, feast your eyes on this perfect Santa Fe night!

Angela + Her Girls, a Family Session

One of the most special parts of this amazing adventure we get to call our career is being able to capture not only couples and weddings, but families too.

Before Angela was our bride, we captured her and her darling daughters multiple times. Most recently we spent some time in the gorgeous foothills with Angela and her babes. We always adore our time with Angela because she just instantly feels like a best friend, it’s so easy to just do our thing and have an amazing time when capturing her and her family! We love you so much girl, thank you for always trusting us with the most precious moments of your life!

Wedding Inspo - Glass Wedding Signs

This year we’ve seen some of the most dazzling wedding day details and displays, but the one that has really caught our eyes (& hearts) is glass signage! Tons of our couples have displayed this growing trend on their special days that we couldn’t help but share the beauty of these unique details with all of you!

Each of these signs were not only unique in color and design, but each set truly represented the couple they were created for. From the simple cactus drawings, to the handprinted colored beauties, to the mirror-like signs, all of these wedding day details were beyond dreamy.

Check out all of these incredibly beautiful, yet so modern glass wedding signs, they are certainly a sight to behold.

Wedding Inspo - Ballgown Bridal Gowns

As any wedding lover knows, classic and chic bridal looks are always in style. So this week we honed in on one of the original and most beloved bridal gown styles to date, ballgown wedding gowns.

While this wedding dress silhouette has seen dozens of changes over the last century, we know one thing is certain about ballgown dresses, they never fail to make our brides look like absolute queens all day long. The last few seasons we’ve captured a few absolute stunners including an unreal Pnina Tornai beauty that pulled major inspiration from Duchess Kate Middleton’s iconic gown to an enchanting Reem Acra number that gave just the right amount of couture to an epic summer wedding to a charming Randy Fenoli creation that brought all the delicate jewel details imaginable.

If you’re looking for the perfect addition to a modern yet classic wedding day, ballgown wedding gowns can add the right amount of elegance. Not only do they look flattering on every single bride out there, but these ballgown beauties add the right touch of bridal style magic to every soon-to-be wifey.
